Susan means "lily"... and it's a symbol for the type of
zen mentality and unfolding of boxes that I've been trying to channel lately. I've got an MA in English Lit, I've been a PR executive, a teacher, an art docent, a 4-H leader, a writer and a mom...and it's all starting to form a beautiful mosaic these days! Life can really spin you sometimes...fortunately, I love to pirouette, so I take out my troubles on the dance floor, and in the art studio, and playing with the chickens I raise in the backyard...they follow me around because they know that sooner
or later, I'll get my hands dirty finding worms for them. Probably sooner.

I'm a fifth-generation Californian, raised by real-live
hippies, so it HAD to be a poppy! I graduated from Art Center in Pasadena, and I did my time in the trenches
of big advertising. Now I make a happier living as a
graphic designer, book illustrator, and photographer. I
love having a daughter in elementary school...it gives
me an excuse to color with crayons, take rambling nature hikes, make finger puppets....Not that I needed an excuse...I am 100% pure flower child.
